• 著者: 馬太, 原名利未。利未意即「聯合」, 迦百農人, 曾作稅吏, 後改名馬太, 意即「主所賜的」。
• 時間: 主後三十七年。
• 地點: 耶路撒冷。
• 目的: 證明耶穌是他們所盼望的彌賽亞, 如何應驗舊約的預言, 如何建立天國。

第一章 救自己之民從罪惡中出來
