What feelings does the hymn evoke for you?

What a blessing to listen to “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”! This timeless hymn never fails to move me.
Here are my thoughts:
A Comforting Reminder
This hymn is a beautiful reminder of Jesus’ presence in our lives, especially during difficult times. As the lyrics say, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!” (echoing Hebrews 4:15 ESV, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses…”). Jesus understands and bears our burdens.
A Call to Cast Our Cares
The hymn encourages us to “take it to the Lord in prayer” (1 Peter 5:7 ESV, “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you”). This is a powerful reminder to bring our concerns to Jesus, trusting in His sovereignty and love.
A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness
The hymn’s message is a testament to God’s faithfulness and constant presence in our lives (Psalm 121:3 ESV, “He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber”). What a comfort to know that Jesus is always with us!
